Children are gifts from God. It is truly a privelege to teach them, to love them, and to help them grow in their faith. Kids For Christ (KFC) is our ministry for children, ages 1st-4th grade.
This is not the Sunday School you grew up with...this Sunday School is an engaging experience! Each Sunday morning, children enter the New Testament Village to be completely immersed in a biblical concept. Each room is taken back to New Testament times. Here, children learn about God and Jesus through Bible stories, Art, Cooking, Drama, Missions, Science, Movies, and Games. After completing each unit, the children have a Celebration Sunday where they can journal, share what they have learned, and celebrate who they are!
Children's Mission Education is a blended program with our Sunday School. Every 6 weeks, our children learn about a missionary and celebrate missions! This time allows them to stay connected with what others are doing around the world to serve God.
On Sunday mornings our 4 year olds through 2nd graders are invited to a special time of worship in the Children's Chapel. Children's Worship begins with a gathering where children light (turn on) the communion table candles, pass the peace of Christ together, sing, pray, read scripture, give offering, and listen to a Bible story. The children are then invited to centers where they discuss the Bible lesson, share in a snack, and create a craft to take home to help them remember their worship experience.
3rd and 4th grade children join in the Sanctuary for Worship. It is at this age that children are able to understand, engage in, and experience worship collectively with the larger congregation. Every week, special gold notes written in the margins of our worship guides help explain the meaning and importance of various worship experiences throughout the service.
On Sunday and Wednesday evenings our first through fourth graders meet for Bible study. We learn about Jesus and His teachings through studying the Bible, playing learning games, discussion, and other creative methods. This Bible study provides a safe place for children to ask their questions. They learn to support and under gird their peers through prayer and encouragement.
We provide monthly fellowships for our first through fourth graders. These fellowships create opportunities for the children to grow in their friendships, as well as to understand and experience the joy of fellowship with one another. Some examples of our fellowships include: movie nights, climbing walls, and roller-skating.
We provide monthly service opportunities for our children in grades one through four. This allows the children to take what they have learned, think beyond themselves, and share the love of Christ with others. Some examples of service projects we have participated in include: working at Clemson Community Care, shopping for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes, providing soup for our shut-ins, and making blankets for children in the hospital.
Each summer we provide an opportunity for our third through sixth graders to attend camp. The camps we participate in are an extension of our ministry to our children and preteens. The camps we attend incorporate the elements we include in our ministry at First Baptist: Bible study, fellowship, and service to others.
