Bible Study – The youth are engaged in Bible study each week through
Sunday school, Sunday night Bible Study and Wednesday night Bible study. The
studies use various curriculums, themes and presentations. We approach Bible
study in a holistic approach so that the youth learn biblical concepts that
they can apply to their life situation.
Fellowships – We offer monthly fellowships to help build community,
develop friendships and provide an avenue of Christian fellowship. Some
examples of our fellowships include: putt-putt, rock climbing, skiing, cook
outs and fun parks.
Mission Opportunities – We offer at least one service project a month
in the community so that youth can contribute to the needs of individuals
locally and see where God is working in our community. Some examples of our
projects include: soup kitchens, Helping Hands, Clemson Community Care and
VBS.
Each summer the youth go on a week long mission trip to share what they have
learned through local missions sharing on a national or international level. The youth prepare
through service projects, Bible study, shadowing and prayer. In recent
years, youth have participated in mission trips to Alaska, Washington, DC,
Wyoming, and Jamaica.
YouthCue has selected three youth from First Clemson to participate in
the 2008 International Chorus: Sonny Nodine, Kandalee Marcus and Miles
Terry. Music from the chorus can be downloaded
here.
Facilities
The youth
center is located in the basement, under the sanctuary. This is the site of
most on-site youth activities.
The Youth Group’s
Mission Statement
The Youth at First Baptist Church seeks to:
Gain a greater understanding of the world through various social events and
activities.
Actively participate in mission/service opportunities within the church,
community and beyond.
Discuss the Bible to gain a better understanding of God’s Word.
Actively participate in worship both individually and within the church
family.
Train leaders to help teach others to lead, by knowing when to follow, by
being respectful, and by being Christian role models.
Invite, involve and accept guests in all aspects of the youth ministry
realize that being a Christian youth is a way of life, both inside and
outside the church walls.
Music
There are several opportunities for youth to use their musical gifts through
the youth program. Both the youth handbell choir and youth choir meet to
prepare music for worship and service opportunities. The youth choir
participates in the Jubilate Choir Festival which meets in January and June.
There is also a choir beach retreat in the spring.
Retreats
In an effort to build community, experience life outside our community and
focus on specific themes, the youth participate in a variety of retreats
throughout the year. Examples of retreats include: Orientation retreat for
rising seventh graders, back-to-school etreat, ski trip, choir beach trip,
choir summer tour, lock-ins, guy’s night out and girl’s night out. We have a
great time getting to know each other as we spend quality and quantity time
together.
Sunday School
The curriculum involves a variety of themes using multi-media, discussion
and application. The four men who lead our youth Sunday school prepare for
this weekly experience by focusing on biblical studies and topical issues.
