Honduras
Each year, members of First Baptist Church travel to Honduras to build houses, teach Bible study, art classes and assist with medical issues. Click here to view the 2008 trip.
Allendale Project
In affiliation with SC CBF, members of FBC have visited Allendale on several occasions to assist with home repair.
New Orleans
Members of FBC traveled to New Orleans after Katrina to assist with rebuilding churches. An effort coordinated through local ministerial associations and national CBF.
Pickens County Habitat for Humanity
Several members of FBC are regular participants with local Habitat for Humanity on a regular and on-going basis. The church has sponsored the building of a house also.
Paper Drive
FBC collects papers, newspaper and white paper, for collection by Collins Children's home. This is a project of senior adults.
Each year youth participate in a national/international mission projects. In recent years youth have participated in projects in Alaska, Wyoming, Washington DC, Atlanta and Jamaica to mention a few. Three of FBC youth were selected for International Chorus through YouthCue. The three are pictured below: Sonny Nodine, Kandalee Marcus and Miles Terry.
Children at FBC participate in many projects including visiting nursing homes and serving in soup kitchens. Each year children collect Christmas boxes for distribution through Samaritan's Purse. Youth have also worked in the Charlotte distribution center. Recently, youth participated in a blanket project as shown below.
Pre-School
Pre-school children are introduced to mission projects as an early age.
College Students
Each year during spring break, college students conduct a mission trip. Previously they have assisted with CBF ministry in Charleston. This past year, the trip was to Galviston, Tx, where the students assisted with a seaman mission.

Church members are also active on the mission field as independent missionaries. Some of these include:
Debbie Hennessy - Debbie Hennessy is a registered nurse who serves with Volunteers in Medical Missions. These medical teams minister to the spiritual and physical needs of children and adults in developing countries. She has been a VIMM team member on missions to Mexico, Trinidad, Guatemala, Ecuador, Tanzania, and Peru. She has also participated in our church missions to Honduras.
Otis Nelson - In addition to making 9 trips to Honduras with our church missions, trips to New Orleans and Allendale, Otis has made 4 independent trips to Bolivia building children's homes, 2 trips to SriLanka in Tsunami relief and as he puts it, 7 weeks at ground zero for his country.
Fred and Jane Pardue - The Pardue have made mission trips to Romania to assist with teaching in community churches.
Charles Matthews - Charles has been traveling to Xpujil, Mexico to assist Mayan Indians with agricultural missions. In May, 2008, he assisted with developing home water systems and in August, he traveled with Andy Combs, Brownsville, Tenn., to assist with various crop and livestock projects. The group also participated in Sunday School with children.
