Decisions are made at the Church level after recommendation from committees. The focal point of Church Governance is the Coordinating Council which coordinates committees in the areas of Administration; Education; Fellowship; Ministry, Mission and Evangelism; and Worship. Church council consists of the following membership.
With exception of the staff and Chair of Deacons, Coordinating Council membership is recommended to the church by the Nominating Committee. Likewise, the Nominating Committee manages the staffing and guidelines for various committees.
Deacons at First Baptist Church of Clemson are charged with family ministry. They are elected by the congregation among membership who are over 18 years old and been a member for more than one year. There are 24 deacons, men and women, who serve 3 year terms. Only one person in each family may serve at the same time.
