Deacon Family Ministry

The 24 deacons of the First Baptist Church of Clemson minister to and support the families of the Church. Deacons also have assigned non-member families who frequent the activities of the Church. Deacons are available to assist families in their faith journey as well as everyday needs. Deacons rotate as on-call deacons available in the absence of staff. Deacons are the spiritual leaders of First Clemson and are not decision makers. A list of deacons and assigned families can be found at this link.

Deacon Covenant

With humble gratitude to God and my church, I dedicate myself to their service through the role of deacon.  As a deacon, I will serve with integrity, being careful that my actions are respectful of my church, my faith and my family.  I will set an example for others by faithfully attending worship, fellowship, and Sunday School.  I will also be an active participant and supporter of the church’s missions and ministries. I will demonstrate Christian stewardship by tithing my money and sharing my time and talents. 

My service as deacon shall be conducted in a manner that promotes peace, unity and goodwill among other deacons, all church members, and the community at large.  I will faithfully attend deacon’s meetings and prayerfully consider each issue presented.  When issues arise with which I disagree, I will maintain a respectful and cooperative attitude and keep the best interest of the church above my own. 

As a deacon, I will seek not to control but to serve, relying not on the love of power but upon the power of love.  With the help of the Spirit, and to the best of my ability, I promise to fulfill this covenant.
